Permits in Kendall

Kendall has no city government of its own, so Miami-Dade County is its governing body. For properties in unincorporated Miami-Dade, the county says the process applies to folios that start with "30" and that a new roof needs a permit. Roofing materials used in the county are reviewed by the Miami-Dade Product Control Section. Check your folio number before you plan the job, since a home with a different folio prefix may sit inside a city with its own building department.

What Kendall's history means for a roof

Kendall and the surrounding South Dade area were severely damaged by Hurricane Andrew in August 1992, and the area was rebuilt over the years that followed. As growth shifted west in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, the Kendall name came to cover newer neighborhoods too (Wikipedia). Roofs here run from the 1950s boom to recent rebuilds, so material and condition vary a lot from one address to the next. We inspect the roof you have instead of guessing from the neighborhood.

Miami-Dade is part of Florida's High-Velocity Hurricane Zone, with more stringent requirements than the rest of the state (Wikipedia, Florida Building Code).
